Tell us about your background and role in sustainable packaging.
I was raised by kind-hearted parents who instilled in me the desire to make a positive impact and the belief that I can be a force for good in the world. With a passion for STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), I pursued industrial engineering in undergrad and began exploring the environmental and social impacts within supply chains. This led me to develop mechanisms and a personal value system to account for the 3Ps—planet, people and profits.

My thirst for knowledge and desire to be a force for change led me to pursue a master’s degree in Sustainability Management at Columbia University, where I discovered a passion for packaging and its effects on our environment. I focused on packaging materials and their end-of-life paths, inspiring me to champion sustainability by design principles in consumer-packaged goods. This ultimately led me to my current role at The Estée Lauder Companies, where I spearhead packaging sustainability initiatives across our portfolio of 20+ brands, ensuring packaging is visually appealing and designed with intention, circularity and responsibility at its core.

Can you tell us a bit more about one of those sustainable packaging initiatives for Estée Lauder?
One of my favorite examples is the Revitalizing Supreme+ Youth Power Creme. This package was redesigned to advance the brand's sustainable packaging commitments while continuing to deliver the luxury product consumers know and love. The initiative included changing packaging from plastic to glass, designing for refill and conducting a life cycle assessment to validate additional environmental improvements beyond recyclability. These efforts resulted in a reduction of at least 40% of associated emissions and energy consumption in the first year of shipment.

Have you had any female mentors who influenced your work in advancing sustainability?
Women mentors have been influential forces and advocates during pivotal moments in my professional and personal journey. Their guidance has reinforced the power of active listening, empathy and a genuine desire to contribute to the well-being of others. This has proven especially instrumental when implementing and managing change in the realms of sustainability, process improvement and packaging innovation.

Research shows that female leadership can have a significant positive impact on climate action. How do you see the role of women, particularly in the beauty industry, driving environmental change?
There is tremendous value in everyday conversations with women in leadership, peers and those new to the industry. Deep listening, empathy and relentless curiosity are often found in female leaders, like Mrs. Estée Lauder herself, who was a pioneer in changing the world of beauty by embodying these skills. Today, we see women at the forefront of refillable beauty, material innovation and supply chain transformation. I firmly believe that women’s leadership and aligned action can continue to accelerate the shift from sustainability as a corporate obligation to a deeply ingrained value.

How does your work in sustainable packaging contribute to the larger vision of empowering women and advancing environmental solutions?
As a professional in STEM, my work in sustainable packaging is deeply intertwined with empowering women—both in the industry and as consumers. The women I collaborate with challenge, inspire and elevate me, and I am committed to paying that forward by creating spaces for mentorship, collaboration and leadership development.

Every material choice and design decision is an opportunity to reshape supply chains, foster industry-wide collaboration and influence consumer education. Sustainability is not just about reducing waste; it is about reimagining access, enhancing user experiences and embedding conscious practices into daily rituals. By integrating sustainability into design, I aim to give women—whether as innovators or consumers—the tools to make informed choices, lead change and shape the future of beauty and environmental stewardship.
